Concerns:
Any student exhibiting inappropriate behavior or missing assignments will receive a note in their planner. Inappropriate behaviors or missing work may result in loss of recess or other privileges. Parents will be notified of inappropriate behavior(s) each night in their child's Planner. We ask that parents sign their child's Planner as well as discuss together, as a family, how to make different choices. We also encourage parents to celebrate the admirable leadership choices made by their child. Feel free to contact your child’s teachers if you have any questions.
Typical Action Plan for Inappropriate Daily Behavior per teacher:
- Inappropriate Behavior or Missing Work = Loss of ticket(s)
- Students will receive “IOUs” if they do not have enough tickets to use for poor choices they have made. They can request to do community service such as collecting trash from the playground or sweeping pebbles off the blacktop to pay off any “IOUs” they might have received.
- Certain violations will not necessarily follow the above plan and can possibly result in an immediate office referral. (i.e. safety infractions, cheating, profanity)
9 Week Citizenship Grading Scale
# of Violations Results for EACH 9-weeks grading period
0-3 Excellent (E)
4-12 Satisfactory (S)
13-18 Needs Improvement (N)
19 + Unsatisfactory (U)
Fun Friday:
There will be one Fun Friday event scheduled each 9-weeks grading period for those students who have demonstrated Excellent (0-3) and Satisfactory (4-12) leadership skills based on their daily behavior and work habit choices matching grade level expectations. Students not earning Fun Friday will work on a 7 Habits goal-based action plan with a teacher to help the student be more successful in the future. This action plan paper will go home in the following Tuesday Folder. Please discuss the plan with your child so they can focus on making more successful choices focusing on the 7 Habits.
