Unit 5: Investigating Energy
BIG IDEA
Energy occurs in many forms.
Students will be able to…
Identify and describe uses of mechanical, light, thermal, electrical and sound energy.
Identify the source of energy used to produce another form of energy.
Create complete electrical circuits using materials such as batteries, wires, switches and bulbs that allow a current to pass through and create light, heat or sound.
Demonstrate and describe the flow of electricity in circuits when switches are open and closed.
Demonstrate and describe the reflection and refraction of light using materials such as mirrors, glass, metal objects, water, prisms and lenses.
Differentiate between conductors and insulators, including examples as well as function and purpose.
